Antall József Summer School 2014

Organized by the Antall József Knowledge Centre

7 and 18 July 2014

With the establishment of the V4 and CEI Division, the Antall József Knowledge Centre

would like to offer a more comprehensive picture of the regions in question by providing a

forum for experts and students to meet. Our first international summer university called Antall

József Summer School took place this summer where the CEE region and the Visegrád

Cooperation were scrutinized from many aspects. We would like to continue this tradition of

creating an intercultural dialogue between the V4 countries and organize the summer school

annually. Seeing that the deepening of relations between the V4 countries can be associated

with the name of József Antall, we propose the program to be held in Budapest.

We aim at providing the young participants of Polish, Czech, Slovakian, Romanian, Austrian,

Croatian, Serbian, Ukrainian, German and Hungarian origin with a cross-border educational

program of high quality that enables them to know more about the most pivotal cooperation of

Central Europe. During the twelve-day-long event, the participants can listen to and attend

lectures and seminars in English that will put under scrutiny the economic, political and

cultural relations of the Cooperation as well as the experiences connected to being an EU

member state.

Based on the lectures, the students of the summer school will write an end-of-term test. If

the test is passed, those who attended all the lectures and seminars will be given a certificate.

Beyond the transmission of knowledge, our aim is the enhancement of intercultural

dialogue. For this reason, we organize various trips and programs: Visegrád trip,

Multicultural Evening, House of Terror Museum, Gastro-trip, V4 Game, Film Club,

exhibitions, etc.

To ensure the same conditions for each participant, it is required for the Knowledge Centre to

cover all the expenses of travel and accommodation of the participants, the office tools needed

for the workshop and lectures, and the meals.

A separate webpage has already been created to spread the news of the summer school more

effectively among all the universities of the designated countries. On the webpage,

participants have access to all information and have the possibility to directly ask the

organizers. Thus participants will be enabled to register online.

According to our plans, the following people will participate in the opening ceremony’s

round-table discussion about the 25th

anniversary of the regime change: Mr Géza Jeszenszky,

the Hungarian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway and Iceland and the Minister of

Foreign Affairs of the Antall government, Mr Karel Schwarzenberg, Former Minister of

Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Mr Mikulas Dzurinda, Former Prime Minister of the

Slovak Republic and Jan Krzysztof Bielecki, Former Prime Minister of Poland.
