SALARY:  Unpaid internship (At the conclusion of the internship a letter of reference will be issued)

The U.S. Embassy in Prague, Czech Republic, is seeking an employee for the part-time position of Student intern in the Office of Defense Cooperation.

The position is 15-20 hours per week with a flexible schedule (depending on class schedule, working hours can be scheduled in the mornings or afternoons, half days or full days).  Embassy working hours are 0800-1630, Monday-Friday.  Occasional evening hours are required for receptions and other events.  Working hours may be adjusted or cut back during school exams.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

The Office of Defense Cooperation of the U.S. Embassy works with the Ministry of Defense and the Army of the Czech Republic in matters of security cooperation.  Interns work on a variety of projects focused on record keeping and logistical coordination under the supervision of U.S. military officers.  Duties include scanning and archiving historical program documentation, coordinating event schedules and details pertaining to official visits, and some clerical/administrative duties.  Interns should have a strong background in international affairs, good interpersonal skills, excellent organizational and communication skills, good computer skills, flexibility, and a positive attitude.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

NOTE:  All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

  1. University students (must be an enrolled student for the duration of the internship). The university approval with unpaid student’s internship is required. (The U.S. Embassy has a working agreement in this regard with the University of New York in Prague.  Applicants from other universities have to secure an agreement for an unpaid internship on their own).
  2. Czech language knowledge, spoken and written, (fluent - 4/4) is required. English language knowledge, spoken and written, (fluent - 4/4) is required.
  3. A minimum of six months commitment is required (longer terms are possible if both parties agree) as well as commitment to work 15 to 20 hours a week.

Standardní postup pro udělování kreditů za absolvované pracovní stáže a praxe:

 

Student si na začátku semestru, v němž bude stáž realizovat, zapíše ve stagu virtuální kurz typu C Pracovní stáž 1-5 pod zkratkou PS1-PS5 dle délky předmětné stáže/praxe. Délce stáže/praxe odpovídá také počet kreditů. Dělení je následující:

 

PS1: pracovní stáž (praxe) v rozsahu 14 dní až 1 měsíc; 1 kredit

PS2: pracovní stáž (praxe) v rozsahu 1 až 2 měsíce: 2 kredity

PS3: pracovní stáž (praxe) v rozsahu 3 až 4 měsíce: 3 kredity

PS4: pracovní stáž (praxe) v rozsahu 5 až 6 měsíců: 4 kredity

PS5: pracovní stáž (praxe) v rozsahu nad 6 měsíců: 5 kreditů 

 

Na konci každého semestru budou pro každý typ stáže (PS 1-5) vypsány virtuální zkouškové termíny. Studenti požadující udělení kreditů za absolvovanou stáž se na příslušný zkouškový termín zapíší. Po dodání potvrzení o absolvování stáže/praxe nebo adekvátního dokumentu elektronicky či osobně do rukou tajemníka katedry Hynka Melichara jim bude ve stagu přiznán "zápočet" a uděleny kredity.
