The course „Theoretical Approaches to Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)“ is one semester optional course recommended to DPES students of 2nd – 5th Year. The main goal of this course is to familiarize students with main theoretical approaches to WMD Issues, where main emphasis is based on secular and religion perspectives. In this course students will get an overview about approaches of basic international relations theories to WMD Issues. Focusing on Realism, Liberalism, Natural Law Theory, Feminism and Pacifism, ethical and moral aspects of WMD proliferation will be discussed, as well as possible use of WMD. Big part of the course is dedicated to cultural and religious context, where the main emphasis will be on approaches of main world religion views. Students will receive an overview, about what is the attitude of Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism or Hinduism to main issues of war, mass killing, ethics, morality, WMD proliferation or disarmament. The main aim of this course is to familiarize students with debate concerning WMD and teach them how to look at ethical and moral aspects of war, proliferation of WMD, use of WMD or disarmament.
